I’m a big fan of the 50’s and 60’s concept cars. Tom Maruska is the owner of the 1954 Mercury XM-800 concept car. Tom is currently restoring the car back to it’s original condition.
The car was shown at the 1954 Detroit Auto Show. Sometime in 1956, Ford donated the car to the University of Michigan. UM used the car in it’s auto design class as a teaching tool. They made some changes to the steering wheel, column and radio knobs and added a padded dash. Tom will be restoring the car back to the first design as Mercury built it.

You will definitely want to visit Tom’s website. He has a lot of history about the car and you can also follow along with the restoration progress. www.tbirdsquare.com
There are three other sites to visit about the restoration and history of this car.
