Submitted by Suede and Chrome Blog

BEFORE
AFTER (Still have the bumpers at the chrome shop)
My son LOVES to drive his dad’s car. (AND beep the horn!)
If it likes it this much at 2….just think how he will be at 16!
Well, this evening I got my new Spyder Hubcaps installed on the ‘50. I [...]

High School Students Restore Rare 1967 Mohs Ostentatienne Opera Sedan

Submitted by Auto Restoration 101 Blog

I think it’s great that there are high schools still around that teach some type of automotive classes. My former high school dropped the automotive classes entirely. I couldn’t believe when I read this article that there was a high school that taught auto body repair. Freedom High School students [...]

Wow! This Woodie is kool! Real stock looking, but very kool rims and narrow sidewalls with “wide whites”.

Ashley Webb is a member of the Hub Garage. It was great to finally get to see these two cars in person!

1949 Mercury Convertible Restoration Part 33

Submitted by Auto Restoration 101 Blog

The rivets in the trunk hinges were all worn out. They were worn out bad enough that the arms had slipped past the stops and they were working opposite of what they should. It took a while to figure it out. Instead of the springs lifting the arms up to [...]

2009 Detroit Autorama Post #4

Submitted by Suede and Chrome Blog
O.k….Just 3 pictures today. This ‘50 Chevrolet was probably one of my favorite cars upstairs at the 2009 Detroit Autorama this year. The red exterior is really eye-catching! The chrome is excellent, and the car’s stance is perfect.

I remember seeing the car last year too, but back then, [...]

2009 Detroit Autorama Post #3

Submitted by Suede and Chrome Blog

O.k….this “Decoliner” was down right kool. I believe the shop that built it is from Indianapolis. (I recognized there logo from an article in Hometown Hotrod Magazine). At any rate, the bike actually fits right up into the panel truck. With a push of a button, the rear hatch [...]

1949 Mercury Convertible Restoration Part 32

Submitted by Auto Restoration 101 Blog

The seat frames were in good shape and didn’t need any major work. They were sandblasted and cleaned up, we then sprayed them with some epoxy primer and painted them black. The seat stops were replaced with some rubber pads. We also assembled the backrest onto the seat frame with [...]

WOW! This little two-door woodie wagon was really cool! Wish I would have taken some more pictures of it!

You can’t go wrong with a simple black 32 Ford!
No need for fancy graphics or wild billet wheels. Another fine example of a very simple car that looks incredible.
I’ve [...]

Well, here are a few more pictures from my second day at Custom Metal Finishers in Hagerstown, Indiana. I love being able to learn new things. I also love being able to do work on my OWN car. How kool will it be to be able to look at my [...]

Back to the “Old Grind”….

Submitted by Suede and Chrome Blog
Well, I FINALLY have had some time to get back over to see my friends at Custom Metal Finishers in Hagerstown, Indiana. A week and a 1/2 ago, I started prepping the front and rear bumpers of my 50 Chevrolet 2-door sedan to have them rechromed. Back on President’s day, [...]

Well, those readers who log in every evening to see photographs and read about traditional hotrods may be relieved to learn that this is the last set of photographs from the Rock Island, Illinois set. Thought I’d finish out the set with a few “race” related vehicles.
I’ll be posting some [...]

Rock Island…Post #?!?!

Well, I think I’ve lost count of the number of days worth of pics from the Rock Island show. Thanks again to my Righteous Rodder C.C. friends at Custom Metal Finishers for taking some great shots. They know that this blog is dedicated to traditional hotrods, but they couldn’t [...]

Amelia Island Concours 2009

Submitted by Auto Restoration 101 Blog

Classical Drives is a great website. It’s all about classic cars. This article caught my eye because of the photo of the 1938 Phantom Corsair. I’m a big fan of “one off” cars.

This has nothing really to do with auto restoration but it’s about the classic American muscle car.

Rock Island Post #8

I’m not sure I like the color combination of the red rally stripes with the maroon body color, but early Camaros are definitely kool.

When is the last time you saw a Studebaker Avanti this kool?
