We have been making some good progress on the car. The front grille surround and the lower grille panel had a lot of surface rust on them. We had our sandblaster quickly run over them to remove the paint but he didn’t want to stay on them too much for fear of warping them. We use a product made by DuPont called 5717S Metal Conditioner which is phosphoric acid. If used properly it will remove all of the surface rust and clean the metal. I will do a post on how to use it in the near future.
The two panels shown below were cleaned with DuPont 5717S to remove the remaining surface rust and prep them for primer.

This is the upper grille panel after it was prepped and sprayed with a coat of epoxy primer.

The old tires were dismounted and the wheels were sand blasted and are shown here about to get sprayed with some primer.
