1949 Mercury Convertible Restoration Part 40

The underside of the floor is now painted. We used a single stage urethane paint called U-Tech made by Akzo Nobel. If you have been following this restoration you might remember that we used a Sikkens Color Map for duplicating the original color in Part 6. Although the exterior of the car is a beige metallic the underside of the car was originally a blue/gray metallic.


The next day we masked and sprayed the undercoating on the wheel houses to cut down on road noise and protect the body from road rash. I use a product called Tekton TK-44 for the undercoating.
