1949 Mercury Convertible Restoration Part 47

Submitted by Auto Restoration 101 Blog

It’s time to lower the body back onto the chassis. The body was removed from the rotisserie and the square tube brace is still bolted to the body for strength. We are using the same method that we first used when we removed the body which is with a pair [...]

My Dad is currently in the process of painting his 1947 Chevy Coupe flat black. I think he needs to consider having some pinstripes laid down when he is finished. Really makes a difference in the level of “kool”.

This little number had to be one of my favorites at the show. Every detail was incredible.

I certainly enjoy the addition of pinstripes to almost any car. It really gives the car “soul”.

Zeeland “Feel the Zeel” Car Show 2009

Submitted by Mikes Show-N-Shine Blog
It started out with a storm but ended up a beautiful day. Must have been about 200 or so cars lining the streets of Zeeland. The Chevys really pulled the biggest list of winners with some 57’s taking the plaques for Sponsor’s Choice Awards. A number of Mustangs also won.
Take a [...]

Here, as promised, are the other 20 cars that I photographed. I hope you enjoy them!

At this point the body is mostly apart. The front sheet metal and doors have been removed. The next step is to start trimming the replacement rear half to fit on the car. This took a lot of planning and measuring.

The car with the front fenders and hood removed.

The replacement [...]

Beautiful 1956 Chevrolet 210 Sedan For Sale

Submitted by Suede and Chrome Blog
WOW! This is a friend’s 1956 Chevrolet…and it is beautiful. Got an email today that he has it listed on Craigslist. Thought I’d post the information here in hopes of helping him sell it. I’ve seen the car several times and like I said, it’s a real “looker”.
Award winning show [...]

Disc Brake Dress Up….Part 3

Submitted by Auto Restoration 101 Blog

Once the stencil is on the part in the correct position, smooth out the stencil to make sure there are no air pockets. If this was a large decal or stencil we would have used a water and soap solution with a squeegee to help make removing the air bubbles [...]

Man, this little truck was kool.

I’ve been thinking about trying to make a headliner for the Nifty Fifty out of old coffee bean bags, so when I saw the interior, I had to snap a couple of photographs.

Tomorrow is the Zeeland Car Show. I am very excited and will say a prayer that it doesn’t rain. Watch for some pictures very soon.

Don’t want to offend anyone, but couldn’t help taking a shot of a bumper sticker one car owner had for sale. The world seems a bit messed up right now doesn’t it? Oh, and what if I added “Bible-toting” to the sticker?!

East Syracuse-Minoa students finish Firebird project and are raffling off the car

Submitted by Auto Restoration 101 Blog

I think it’s great that there are still programs going on that promote classic car repair to the younger generation. I found this article about the automotive technology program at East-Syracuse Minoa High School. They just recently restored a 1969 Pontiac Firebird that will be raffled off. The winner will [...]
